Thermal optical components are optical elements designed to function effectively in the presence of heat or within thermal environments. They contain a range of materials, including specialized lenses, mirrors, and filters, that are crucial for thermal imaging systems and other applications involving infrared or heat detection. These components are often chosen for their ability to transmit, reflect, or absorb specific wavelengths of thermal radiation, while also maintaining their optical properties under varying temperature conditions.
Our Variable Optical Attenuator (VOA) and Optical Switch (OSW) components are constructed with thermal optical mach zehnder interferometers.
VOAs and OSWs are widely used in DWDM transmission system as VMUX – pre-equalize of optical power in different channels before multiplexing, and reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) system
Both VOA and OSW can be integrated with other passive components as solutions for customer specified devices for flexible optical networks.
